WORKSHOP

How Real Humans Talk!

Learn to write flawlessly halting, fumblingly REAL dialogue! Mushy, sentimental, hyper-articulate, or full of cloying exposition? Dialogue that HASN’T been trained on actual human conversational rhythm is a liability. But when we nail authentic “voice,” we DEEPEN investment in the fictional world we’ve built.

This workshop is a fun, collaborative, observation-based 3 weeks (sanctioned eavesdropping as homework?? YES!) in which you’ll learn how to identify the ways “real humans really talk” (fumbling, dumb, inarticulate, subtexy, stop-&-start, exquisitely imperfect stuff!), and discover how skilled TV/film writing delivers both exalted conversational moments AND the poignant fumbles that tell your audience: We’re all just humans here.
